The start of a new football season is usually greeted with a keen sense of anticipation, whilst fans await the new campaign and the chance to see their beloved side taking to the field in their new strips. Sometimes though, things don’t work out as planned.
For every beautiful kit that graces the field, there’s some equally terrible ones and the following infographic identifies the worst culprits of fashion crime- including Athletic Bilbao, Fiorentina and Manchester United.
Of the disastrous kits, Manchester United’s is arguably the most famous as the players could not see each other on the field, much to the fury of Sir Alex Ferguson, but Athletic’s ketchup-stained kit is also not remembered fondly.
The most controversial is certainly that of Fiorentina’s, who’s ‘illusion’ kit featured some questionable patterns that had a likeness to the Nazi symbol.
Fortunately, these days the designers of the kits as usually much better and avoiding a disaster but there’s always the risk of a return for the fashion woes.
