Arsenal will look to take their unbeaten record across all competitions to 20 matches tomorrow when they clash with Southampton, with a place in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup at stake.
The trophy remains the only major honour within English football that Arsene Wenger has not lifted during his tenure in North London and he’s likely to want to rectify that this season. Whilst it won’t be his priority, it’s a crucial opening for some of the fringe players at the Emirates.
With crucial games coming up against West Ham and FC Basel in the league and Europe, Arsenal will certainly rotate tomorrow and it’s a chance for some fringe players to stand-up and stake their claim for more regular action in the coming months.
It’s also set to be crucial for Wenger, who’ll learn more about the depth of his squad and who he can call upon when required. Arsenal have always used the competition to bleed youngsters into the first-team and you can expect that to continue tomorrow.

GK: Emiliano Martinez
The 24-year-old Argentine may be third-choice currently at the Emirates but he’s still very highly-rated and has the chance of taking the first-team spot in the future. Having signed a new deal last week, Martinez will return between the sticks for tomorrow’s cup-tie and will be hoping to have an impressive performance.
Should either Petr Cech or David Ospina get injured, Martinez will be on the brink of the first-team so he must be ready to step-up.
