Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez will sign a new contract at the club before Christmas, according to multiple reports from the Catalan press.
The 29-year-old has been in deadly form since switching Liverpool for La Liga two years ago, winning a Champions League crown and two La Liga titles, with Mundo Deportivo stating he will be rewarded with a new deal that will last for a further five years.
On top of this, Sport report Suarez will be paid €16 million per season, bringing him in line with the deal Neymar signed earlier this year, and the reports follow previous comments from Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu– who stated Suarez was next after Neymar, Sergio Busquets and Javier Mascherano had extended their contracts.
Suarez has scored a staggering 92 goals in 104 appearances for Barcelona and his 40-goal haul last term saw him become the first player other than Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo to win Europe’s top-goalscorer award last season since 2009, where compatriot Diego Forlan won the honour.
The current contract of the forward expires in 2019 but Barcelona want a new deal that signifies Suarez’ importance to the side.
