Date: Sunday 11th September Venue: Weserstadion Competition: Bundesliga KO: 14.30
Werder Bremen’s new forward Serge Gnabry should make his debut.
Santiago Garcia and Claudio Pizarro are both injured and will miss the game.
Augsburg captain is a doubt for the game as is Daniel Baier.
Raul Bobadilla will start on the right with Alfred Finnbogason up front.
Both these sides suffered embarrassing opening day defeats and will be keen to get their first points on the board.
Bremen were thumped 6-0 at Bayern Munich and were completely outplayed by the Bundesliga champions. The only positive from that game was that Bremen got the hardest game of the season out of the way.
Augsburg competed well with Wolfsburg in their first game but went down do goals from Daniel Didavi and Ricardo Rodriguez. More will be expected of Augsburg but this away tie at Bremen could pose problems.
Bremen will hope that new signing Gnabry can help them get the goals to forge a successful season. Gnabry was the top goal scorer in the Olympic Games and Bremen will pray for a debut goal.
Bremen have won their last three home games.
Augsburg won this fixture last season 2-1.
Dirk Schuster is looking for his first Bundesliga win as manager of Augsburg.
