The Daily Mirror are reporting that Southampton are close to signing Lille attacking midfielder Soufiane Boufal.
After losing both Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle this summer, the Saints are in desperate need of someone to provide goals to their team, and have identified the Moroccan midfielder as a target.
The 22-year-old had been linked with Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur this season, but it looks likely that Southampton will win the race for the highly rated attacking midfielder.
Boufal starred for Lille last season as they made a late push towards the end of the season for European football, scoring 11 goals and setting up 5 goals in Ligue 1 before his season was cut short due to a severe knee injury.
The Moroccan would certainly be suited to the pace of the Premier League, but Saints fans shouldn’t expect him to hit the ground running straight away, as it will take him some time to come around to the intensity of the league.
