Serie A outfit Fiorentina are expressing an interest in signing West Ham United defender Pedro Obiang, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The 24-year-old has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League and Fiorentina are eyeing the player as they look to bolster their squad for the forthcoming season, with La Viola hoping to improve upon their fifth-placed finish last term and potentially sneak into the Champions League spots.
With Obiang out of the pecking order at the London Stadium, West Ham are prepared to sell for around £4.3m but Fiorentina would prefer an initial loan move, with an obligation to buy the Spanish defender permanently at the end of the season.
Whether West Ham would accept that remains to be seen but Fiorentina may also change their stance, especially with the player having vast experience in Italian football having left Serie A and Sampdoria last summer.
Obiang made 24 Premier League appearances in his first season at West Ham but has failed to start either of the club’s opening games in the league this season, being restricted to just one minute off the bench.
