West Ham United have joined Everton in the chase for Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal after submitting an enquiry to the French club, according to The Daily Mail.
The Algerian international has just one-year remaining on his current deal, which could lead Lyon to a sale, although it’s indicated the 24-year-old is keen to remain with the French side despite interest from the Premier League.
Slaven Bilic has already been incredibly active ahead of a historic season for West Ham, their first at the Olympic Stadium, with Andre Ayew and Arthur Masuaku joining to take the tally of summer signings from the Hammers to nine- and Bilic’s activity in the market isn’t over.
However, West Ham will find competition from Everton in the market for Ghezzal as Ronald Koeman is keen to add more pace to his side and has a wealth of money to spend following John Stones’ move to Manchester City.
Both clubs will be targeting a finish that gives them European football in 2017/18 in the forthcoming season, which will be difficult to achieve due to the vast competition they face from the usual suspects in the top four, along with the likes of Leicester, Southampton and Liverpool.
