Everton have been left angry at Chelsea after attempts to unsettle transfer target Romelu Lukaku.
According to reports in the Liverpool Echo, Everton would not welcome an offer for their star striker from Chelsea. Despite reports of a £57 million bid being made by Chelsea, no offer has reached the Merseyside club for Lukaku.
Everton bought Lukaku from Chelsea for £28 million in 2014 after a successful loan spell the season before. The Belgium international has gone on to become one of the most feared strikers in the Premier League scoring 61 goals in 127 games for Everton.
Chelsea are keen to bring Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge where he spent only one full season, most of which was played with the reserves.
Speculation remains surrounding the future of Chelsea striker Diego Costa. His former club Atletico Madrid are still interested in him which would mean that Chelsea will be in need of a striker for the new season.
The Daily Express report that Lukaku’s agent will hold talks with Everton officials to try and resolve the player’s future. Everton wish to keep the player and hope he is in the right frame of mind to face Tottenham on Saturday in their Premier League opener.
