Watford are looking to sign Lille attacking midfield Sofiane Boufal, according to BBC Sport.
It is understood representatives of Boufal have met Watford officials on their pre-season tour in Austria with a fee of £18m being reporting.
However, Watford aren’t the only club looking to seal Boufal’s signature with Lyon, Juventus and fellow Premier League clubs Chelsea and Tottenham wanting the talented 22-year-old.
The Moroccan scored 11 goals last season and also managed to set-up five more however he is currently injured following a knee injury at the backend of last season.
Boufal said in the Daily Mirror: “I don’t think this injury will have any influence on my future.”
“It’s an injury that unfortunately strikes a lot of players and it’s not an injury that can complicate my career in the short or medium term.”
“My return date is foreseen in September and, at worst, I can eventually miss a maximum of three weeks of competition depending on the league I’m playing in. It’s not huge.”
If Boufal signs for Watford he will be the Hornets seventh new signing of the summer and the second from Ligue 1 following the Brice Dja Djedje’s £3m move from Marseille.
